The time with our veterans in Bull Run, Virginia, last week was amazing! Despite torrential rains, worse weather in the forecast, threatening airline delays, and cancelled flights, we saw a marked improvement when our 11 students were on deck.
The short time between Memorial day and 4th of July feels like spring showers have transitioned into summer sun with red, white, and blue going up on every porch. As veterans, we are proud of our country, our service, and our sacrifice, but when does this pride turn into something unhealthy?
Proverbs 16:18 | Pride comes before disaster, and arrogance before a fall.
1 John 2:16 | For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. There is hope, and his name is Jesus.
Proverbs 13:10 | Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
The men who gathered with us took that courageous step toward overcoming their prideful stance and coming more inline with Christ. We thank them for their service and pray they stay on course as they transition into this next season of their lives.
